What we collect

Enquiry and booking details you give us: your name, telephone number, email address, your baby’s name and age, how you are feeding, and what you tell us about your situation.

Clinical records created at your appointment: the feeding history, the oral assessment, consent, the procedure record and any aftercare notes.

Why we hold it

To provide clinical care, to keep the records a registered midwife is professionally required to keep, and to contact you about your appointment and follow-up.

Clinical records are processed on the basis of provision of health care, and the professional obligations that apply to a registered midwife.

How long we keep it

Clinical records relating to the care of a child are retained in line with NHS records management guidance. Enquiries that do not lead to an appointment are deleted once they are no longer needed.

Who we share it with

Nobody, unless you ask us to — for example a referral to an osteopath or a letter to your GP or health visitor — or unless we are required to by law or by a safeguarding duty.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, and in some circumstances ask us to delete it. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
